Are you searching for a stunning hike near Nairobi? Take a 40-minute drive to the Ngong Hills. These knuckle-shaped hills provide panoramic views of Nairobi and the neighboring mountain ranges, and you may turn around at any point if you don’t feel like climbing every top (the highest rises to 8,071 feet above sea level).

Ngong hills hike is a challenging trail whose total distance is 16.7km, likely to take about 8-10 

hours.

  • Expect to be mesmerized by splendid beauty as you encounter the Blowing Ngong Hills  Ngong hills. You definitely need to carry a camera to record the amazing experience. 
  • Ngong hills. Prepare to be rewarded with stunning vistas of the Ngong highlands. The Ngong Hills’ highest point is 2,460 meters (8,071 feet) above sea level, with the fourth hill being the highest. The trek will also provide you with breathtaking views of the Rift Valley, Nairobi City, numerous mountains and awe inspiring nature.. On a clear day, the highlands provide views of both Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya.
  • Wind Turbines. Along the Ngong hills hiking trail you will get to view the Ngong Hills wind turbines. The hike will definitely not be complete without taking a picture of the majestic wind turbines.

Be prepared for long, unpredictable and steady climbs!

This is a challenging trail whose total distance is 16.7km. The hike from Konabaridi to the Main Gate and back to Kona Baridi and then finishing at the Main Gate is quite 

challenging. This is because you will have to climb and descend the 7 hills. 

During the rainy season, the trail can be quite muddy and slippery. Also expect chilly and cold weather so brace yourself with warm clothing just in case.

Logistics

For group travel via public service vehicles, the meet-up is at the benches near Bata shop Hilton (opposite Kencom) Nairobi CBD. The guide will be at the meet-up point.

The hike is self -drive friendly. The easiest choice is to park your car at the Ngong Town gate.

Getting to the starting point takes about 1 hour 30 minutes. The trailhead is at Ngong hills main gate.
